‘Charity Day’ raises over £1,850 for Hearts Milk Bank

Raising funds for worthy charities and supporting the local community is important to the Directors and employees at Purchase Direct and we were delighted to recently donate over £1,850 to Hearts Milk Bank.

Our employees are given the opportunity to nominate a chosen charity or community project for our biannual ‘Charity Day’, when the staff get together for a fun-packed fundraising day in the office. Most recently, Tom Cottrell from our Energy Management team proposed Hearts Milk Bank, a charity which provides screened donor milk to sick premature babies in over 50 NHS hospital neonatal intensive care units, as well as providing milk to families in the community.

Dr. Natalie Shenker, Co-Founder of Hearts Milk Bank commented, “Human milk prevents premature babies from developing Necrotising Enterocolitis (NEC) and if a mother is unable to produce her own milk, donor milk acts like a medicine to protect the baby. We strive to make sure that donor milk is available for all babies who might benefit and Purchase Direct’s generous donation will really help.”
