The compliance notification deadline for ESOS Phase 2 is rapidly approaching. ESOS is a mandatory energy assessment scheme for organisations in the UK that meet the qualification criteria and non-compliance could result in fines of up to £90,000
It is essential for businesses that don’t already have plans in place to act now in preparation for the impending deadline. Businesses that employ more than 250 members of staff or have a turnover in excess of €43M must carry out ESOS assessments every 4 years. These assessments are audits of the energy used by their buildings, industrial processes and transport to identify cost-effective energy saving measures.
The qualification criteria have remained unchanged and if your business qualified for Phase 1 of ESOS, it is expected that you will need to comply with Phase 2. If your business did not quality for ESOS Phase 1 but your staff numbers or turnover has changed, it may now be necessary to consider Phase 2.
